Water as Leverage

Kota Kita is a Local Lead role in the Water as Leverage program in Semarang, organized by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). The program connects three Asian cities - Semarang, Indonesia; Khulna, Bangladesh; and Chennai, India - and develops innovative urban water projects with local stakeholders.

Building with Nature: Water Dialogues

An interdisciplinary collaboration to conduct a series of Water Dialogues along the coastal city of Semarang and the greater Central Java province. Building on our existing activities in the area, the objective is to generate awareness and an actionable roadmap amongst government stakeholders from relevant sectors. The project is a sub-component of the long-term Building with Nature Indonesia programme by Ecoshape, Wetlands International, the Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF), and the Ministry of Public Works and Human Settlement (PU), supported by supported by the Dutch Sustainable Water Fund and the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU).

Karimunjawa: A Participatory Research and Visioning Project towards Community-based Development

With an attractive landscape and a nascent tourism market, Karimunjawa has the potential to develop a more cohesive, environmentally sustainable and culturally meaningful tourism industry that not only coexists, but actively participates in the landscapes’ potential. Using participatory processes, Kota Kita led an action research project in collaboration with local communities and stakeholders to develop community-based islandscape initiatives in the islands.
